After a career that included reporting and management roles at media organizations from the Richmond Times-Dispatch to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to The Washington Post and more, Jane launched Consult Creative LLC in 2021 to assist news organizations during a challenging time in media history.
Along with her extensive experience in newsroom journalism, Jane helped lead the American Press Institute, a respected D.C. think tank, for four years as a director. Her work at API gave her the opportunity to learn, teach and lead alongside many of the top journalists and experts in today's newsrooms and in media support organizations. The recipient of many awards and honors from the journalism industry and others, she also was a Knight-Nieman Fellow in journalism at Harvard University. She holds an M.S. in mass communication from Virginia Commonwealth University, and has taught journalism at five universities including the University of Pittsburgh and Ohio University's Scripps School of Journalism.
Jane serves on several boards, and volunteers with journalism and community organizations. In her spare time, she's a multimedia artist who participates in art festivals and juried shows, and helps manage the #ArtByJournalists account on Instagram.
